Cybele and Rodrigo’s story is truly one that will tear your heartstrings and you will rejoice in the final results. They are connected and neither one wants to admit their true feelings even though as their story progresses you as a reader will feel the magnetic pull of their personalities. Once you see their relationship unfold and the secrets revealed you can understand why and what they are to each other.
Rodrigo Valderrama is a self-made man. He is a superb neurosurgeon who is an enigma in his profession. He is not only dedicated to his profession but also to the patients in his care. Educated in the finest schools and hospitals he returns to his homeland of Catalonia in the Basque Country near Spain. In Catalonia he opens a state of the art clinic where he proceeds to heal and perfect techniques that makes him not just doctor and world renowned neurosurgeon; but also a lifesaver and savior. Then tragedy strikes Cybele and Mel. Cybele is married to Mel Braddock who is also Rodrigo’s best friend. On their way to visit Rodrigo they are involved in a plane crash. After several hours of surgery Mel dies on the operating table. Cybele herself is on the brink of death and only Rodrigo’s skill and perseverance will her to live.
When Cybele awakes from several hours of surgery it is revealed that she is suffering from amnesia. Her arm is badly damaged and only with the expert care that she receives from Rodrigo and his medical staff her arm might be salvaged once her treatments are completed. While in the state of limbo as she slowly comes out of the coma she hears Rodrigo’s voice and she knows that voice but it seems just out of reach for her. When she finally awakens she cannot believe the man she sees before her. When she finally awakens she cannot believe the man she sees before her. She has never been drawn to someone like him before. He is not only a brilliant neurosurgeon but a gorgeous man.
As the story progresses it is revealed that her husband Mel is really Rodrigo’s brother. Rodrigo was adopted as a small child by Mel’s parents. Rodrigo is devastated that he could not save Mel; but he is determined that Cybele will survive.
He takes her to his palatial estate to recuperate and he is determined that she will become whole and then he will help her put the pieces of her life back together. He realizes that he will have to be patient and hopefully the truth will set both of them free to have the relationship that they both deserve. Rodrigo knows that the only way for him to find everlasting happiness will be determined by that relationship. He proves his patience through his love and care.
Olivia Gates has once again touched on the human relationship in all its flaws and wonders. She has shown us through Rodrigo and Cybele that love is never easy and never as it appears to the eye. Rather that love is constant and never ending.
They are a great couple to applaud. They make us realize just how fragile life is and why it is so important to cherish.
